What is covered
EMPD warrants each motor against defects in material and workmanship for 24 months from the date of invoice or dispatch, whichever is earlier, when the motor is installed, operated and maintained according to its datasheet, nameplate and the EMPD installation, operation and maintenance manual.
What we do
If a motor fails within the warranty period because of a defect in material or workmanship, EMPD will, at its option, repair the motor, replace the defective part or replace the motor.
- Customers in India: the motor or part is returned to our works in Coimbatore, or inspected on site where agreed, and repaired or replaced.
- Customers outside India: the motor is repaired at a local workshop agreed with EMPD in advance, and EMPD reimburses the approved repair cost. Where repair is not practical, EMPD ships a replacement motor or part.
How to make a claim
- Email [email protected] (export customers: [email protected]) as soon as the fault is found.
- Include the serial number and a photo of the nameplate, the invoice or order number, a description of the fault, the operating conditions (supply, load, duty, environment) and photos.
- Wait for EMPD's approval before dismantling the motor or starting a repair. Repairs carried out without approval cannot be reimbursed.
What is not covered
- Damage from incorrect installation, alignment, foundations or coupling.
- Operation outside the rating: overload beyond the rating or service factor, wrong supply voltage or frequency, single-phasing, or more starts than the duty allows.
- Inverter operation without the measures stated in the datasheet (cooling, cable filters, bearing protection where specified).
- Water or dust entry beyond the motor's IP rating, corrosive atmospheres not specified at order, lightning or supply surges.
- Normal wear of parts such as brake friction linings, and bearings worn by misalignment, vibration or lack of lubrication where re-greasing applies.
- Motors modified, rewound or repaired without EMPD's written approval.
Limits
EMPD's liability under this warranty is limited to the repair or replacement described above. EMPD is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as loss of production or profit. Where a quotation, order acknowledgement or supply agreement states different warranty terms, those terms prevail.
